Sergio what substrate do you plant roses into? I was thinking I either read in a book...or was told Kanuma. But can't find that source.

Darlene, using kanuma would make sense since roses like somewhat acidic soils. Currently I have mine in straight small grain akadama just as Ryan did when he had it.

Here is an update. Started blooming just a couple of days ago. The flowers on these dwarf roses do not last long. This year I have been hand pollinating the flowers in the hopes I get more rose hips.

I have placed this little rose in full sun all day and it's performing better than previous years where it received partial sun. It's been very hot for the last couple of weeks so I have been watering it almost every couple of hours every day!

Such a cool tree, and I cannot think of a better pot pairing.

Thanks guys! I am happy with how it is performing this year under full sun. Of course it has helped to be at home and be on top of its demanding watering schedule. Next year I may place the entire thing into a larger pot to avoid excessive drying. Can't wait for fall and see its beautiful yellow foliage.

BTW anyone knows how to edit the title of your posts? Or is this an admin thing?

Can't help you with titles, maybe send a PM to Greg.
Could you put the pot into a water tray to allow it to draw water as it needs? I love it in that pot so much would be sad to see it in something else. Yes Hips! Lots of those in the fall and winter will be very cool.

Thanks Judy. I think @sorce mentioned to me I could do it myself? In any case tagging him to see if this thread could be changed to EIJITSU ROSE as we have now effectively identified this one. Thanks in advance sorce!

The tray idea may be another way to go. I actually meant to place the entire thing, pot and all into a larger container. I agree I don't really want to see this rose without this pot. One challenge I have is producing rose hips. So I am hoping this year will be different. I see bees all around the flowers so we'll see.

That's interesting - what happens? Do hips form at all?
I had the experience this year of the hips forming, but then the stems yellowing and the fruit dropping off. It's been suggested to me that it might have been due to a nutrient deficiency, and to try using a potash fertiliser next spring.
