It's an addiction...no doubt about it.

This list looks like someone just started the hobby :D. You need more... so if one dies you will not be down too long.
Right!?! My husband looks at me cross-eyed when I tell him I've restrained and kept my collection manageable.

You're not alone, Darlene. There's got to be some kind of support group for us addicts, B.A. (Bonsai-aholics Anonymous) or something.

It's weird though, while I've never truly recovered from the addiction, there are times when I'm not as compelled to it. It goes in waves for me.

I started this thread way back when about my obsession with little trees.

Let me make my list later when I have some time so I can be in the intervention session with you guys lol.

If you have one tree and add another, you've doubled your inventory. If you have 100 trees and add another...that's 1% more trees...hardly noticable. The more you have...the less commitment adding "one more" is ;)
Unless the species is an odd ball from the norm. No way I will hide this Flying Dragon. But alas, I don't have 100 +1 . So maybe you are onto something. Screenshot_20210205-052932_Firefox.jpg

I hover around 30....but I like to kill my trees so...
I really try not to do that.

I sort of smitten with this small 10 inch bald cypress in an Erin pot. I really don't push the envelope so to speak...when it comes to repots. I'm by the book. Sure some get away with trees further along. I'm sure I could. Just can't do it though.

150 and counting.
You could have warned me sooner!

In all honesty, just a hand full can be considered bonsai. The rest is bonsai-to-be. If seedlings count, I'm well beyond 300.
6 more puppy trees on their way. 2 prunus spinosa delayed by almost 40 weeks.
Preparing the dig of two hawthorns.

But hey, it keeps me off the streets!

@Cadillactaste watch out with those flying dragons! Their needles break off and you might find them back a couple years later.. When they come back out. They root pretty easily from cuttings though, tough as nails!

I was just skimming out of order and got confused. I thought for second the numbers were how many of each you had!
But nah, 33 trees ain't nothin'. Unless you have a small yard, then it fills up quick.

My entire lawn is landscaped. None of my bonsai really sit out in it. But more on the patio, and deck areas.

A bit of my history. My mom's husband had our lawn a mess. To the point it was a good harassment getting on and off the school bus. I need clean lines...and nothing out of place in my landscape or I get itchy. I also don't like my benches cluttered. That also may help keep my collection where it is around for number count.

I'm having the problem of determining how many I have because I have to determine whether or not it's MY BONSAI or MY WIFE'S FRUIT TREE first. Lots of cuttings filling the windows right now, and any that take that she doesn't take, I'm putting in a pot.
