Is that the whole flower? Looks kind of like one bloom of a hyacinth. But if that's the whole flower, then it isn't.

Looks like an Amaryllis (hippeastrum) to me. They're pretty popular around here in Europe as a spring flower. The bulbs are overwintered, then dipped in candlewax. They flower, then they're tossed in the trash to be replaced next year.

looks like it could be one of those.

thanks

Rosa rugosa, beach rose. They are pretty and smell nice too
Edible fruits too, although a bit bland, they're high in vitamin C! There's a brand over here called Roosvicee that produces lemonade with it. And when dried, the fruits can be ground and be used as itching powder. Not to stop itching, but to start it.

@hinmo24t I side with @Carol 83 it looks very much like a hyacinth. As hyacinth bulbs age they start to putter out in producing flowers. If you smell it it should have a very nice fragrance to it. I took a pic of some hyacinths I have out front....looks very similar to yours. When I first planted them about 4yrs about they were full of flowers now they produce less than 10 on the stalk.

$20 says my wife would know, but she's not around today.
I wanted to say iris, but they tend to be larger than what you describe.
Some sort of lily perhaps?

Before we moved house last year, there was a neighbor down the street with tulips in their yard. A couple years ago we noticed one had seeded itself from them in one of the holes we'd cut through the weed barrier to plant something the year before. Had someone tell me it was impossible in our climate, but we had dug up that very spot the season before to plant, and there was no bulb then.
So, it could be just about anything that can overwinter in your area.
