Also for bio stimulants of humic acid and Kelp when you use the powders you can use the 5 to 2 ratio humic: kelp which is discovered in a ten-year study to increase effectiveness by 50%

Honestly all is good I just learned that pH is absolutely everything……Especially in a pot full of stones because ground soil buffers pH is very hard to change but pot full of stones your water is the soil!!!!
The plant will not get iron outside of the phof 5.5 to 6.5 and will not photosynthesize regularly at all.
Totally take the joy out of garden for me ha ha

The lower end of this range the more uptake of all ions…… the higher end…….. slightly less

I do have a digital meter (from when I grew "other things" up until a few years ago), but I've also heard they're pretty unreliable unless you get a very expensive one, and even then, you need to have them calibrated occasionally.

But I'll give it a try and try to get a ballpark at least.

The bluelab pen is my go to but you’re right they only last a year and a half and $100 but extremely accurate calibration is a breeze absolute breeze
just wash the tip ….hydrated overnight and then tested in the morning at ph four and then at seven and it’s calibrate …. push the button

Planted into 1 gal Rootpouch, monto clay-bonsai block-pumice, then placed into a pond basket with pumice surrounding it to prevent it from drying too quickly.

Ooooh yes thats what Im talking about.Water the dickens out of that thing orobably twice daily…….the rootpouch will hook up the rootball big time……..next season will be sawing it in half,but have lots of feeders right next to trunk.

The Raft Style is a very fun idea though……Probably a 2” trunk in one season!!!

These will be very nice zelkova Broom starters…..air-layered at the base and all….quite dwarf from starting indoors.Probably 1/2” trunks by spring and ready to train.Developing superbly and fast!!! Hundreds of them!!!
I will develope these with proven methods I learned from old Bonsai Today mags!
These winter starters are always quite phoenominal since in the co2 fertilization and various light recipes I have studied……awesome starters for sure.Stoked about the Brooms……..will have loads of the Pines too.

Interesting , I wonder how using a tile or woodblock with holes would look to produce a clump. Guess I’ll find out corseted 3 of those… if they’re as fast as the black pine.. I’ll have to share a photo of it… the jbp clump is taking off.

These grow fastest of any tree I grown….faster than parvifolia!
Just keep them alive and happy……good ph…
I scraped the bark and mine had roots in a week.
I would just rather focus on my other project during my winter grow.
