This project made me wonder why more root over rock folks don't sculpt there own soapstone. It is a really easy material to work with. stuff carves with a butter knife, files, power tolls if you want. Drills easy and wet sands easy. Couple of coats of tung oil and it will shine for a long time.

I use 1/3 turface, 1/3 pumice and 1/3 akadama. I water every day during the summer. In the winter I keep mine indoors and water as the soil drys out depending on how dry the air is.
