A visit to Daitoku-ji Temple Bonsai Garden, Kyoto, 03/31/23

Daitoku-ji is a large temple complex, even by Kyoto's standards, with many different gardens, but I only had time to spend time in this one. My visit was on March 30th, 2023.

I'm not a great photographer and the sun was high overhead, so lighting was not at its best, but I hope you enjoy them nonetheless.

Before even entering the proper garden, they had quite a few lovely trees. I especially like the rock planted forests. These were not included in the program, but had small tags that I believe indicated age and species.

Thanks for the pics, I've never been to Japan but I hope to get there one day. The nearest thing I've been to is Tatton park japanese garden in the uk, it was stunning. I put some photos on here under ' japanese garden pics' if you're interested!

Great!. I'll be visiting that bonsai garden in a month!! I'm excited....I will be visiting Korea and Japan this august (bad timing). For any reason, visiting bonsai gardens will be one of my targets.
I've only seen trees in the (only) bonsai nursery in my island. This will be my first time watching good trees alive!!!!

There's a lovely sushi restaurant nearby that I recommend, called Daitokuji Sushicho. It's the home of an older couple who run the restaurant, and it's a really nice place and excellent sushi.

I have a map with the restaurants location, but I can't seem to upload it presently.
