Hi everyone! I just wrote to ask some advice concerning my Hongkong Kumquat bonsai. I live in the tropics and its leaves are turning yellow and look unhealthy. It was not like this since 2022 when I brought it from Japan. Is there any chance for it to recover? Not sure if fertilizer caused it. Also, it was planted in a pumice and akadama mix for nearly 2 years now. Your advice would all be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot in advance.

They love bright light and humidity, acidic soil, and do not like wet feet. Make sure you are not over-watering or letting it sit in water.

The kumquat tree is planted in pumice and akadama soil, plus it is also very hot in my place at 34-35 Degrees C daily, so I am thinking if the culprit is the very hot weather. The leaves look like they were scorched too. Looking from the picture, the leaves do not look vibrant and healthy too. Is it ok to defoliate it completely? Thanks
