All aboard the Mugo train!

Wiki has a decent list on the right hand side of this article but I have seen others listed as well - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinus_mugo#Cultivars Mine is being sold as a Pinus mugo var. mughus.

That is one of the varieties commonly encountered in the Nursery trade. I also appreciate the wiki link. They have updated it since I was last there.

I don't known it I'd buy from any of those places....
The last one for the seeds especially.....
3d printing....WTF?

I never knew of that gold one though.
Interesting. .

I'm looking for one of those tiny tinyones.
Maybe from The Hidden Gardens!

@Alain dont you have one from THG?

Sorce

Yep I bought one last year that looks pretty much as the one from @RickMartin
It is doing perfectly well budding all over the place after it's first year work (cut of 1/3rd of the root ball and structural pruning) and it already looks like a little 'bonsai' (meaning it looks like a little tree, the one I got fom Home Depot is bigger, is also doing very well and budding all over but doesn't look that 'mature' at all).
Pictures will follow later on this summer (if we end up getting some a spring a one point of the year).

My little buddy from THG cost me $12 and if you are going for a little one that may most certainly never overgrow the Shohin size I would recommend you to go for it without any hesitation :)

The one I posted measures 10 inches from the soil line to the tips of those crazy long candles. It could be a 6 inch piece in a few minutes by just de-candling it. They are very inexpensive, pretty certain it was 6-7USD. They also have them at Lowes and HD every year, again small...

They dont sell any pines down here so its either ebay or a online site to get them

Ah ok. Then may be The Hidden Garden sells and ships, I don't know. Anyway if you are interested in little mugo like the one you showed they had a bunch of them last year for $12 it may worth it to contact them.

This is gonna seem stupid but what is a planting colunder ? i see you guys always use that term im sure its a type of planter i cant seem to find it on google it brings up planting calenders lol ?

20160423_190747.jpg This is why I plant everything in colanders. It's an elm but you can see the benefits. Dense, small feeder roots that you can whack the crap out of without fear of killing the tree.
This tree was only 2 years from collection. Voles got it but I took this picture to have a visual aid why we use colanders.
