Any idea what this Tree is?

If any of you can call up an enlargement take a look at the last picture on the most vigorous branch on the left. It looks to me like there are some pine needles trying to emerge near the tip. If so this could be that funny little pine sold at Christmas time with small Larch like growth trying to throw out some mature foliage looking like bundles of two.

Sure you can, especially if you've ever rescued a podocarpus that was hit by a car and then cut down and the stump was left for dead

You guys are amazing! I leave the thread for 8 hours and you're planning a roadtrip to my neighborhood. Beer is on me for any of you who make it. Message me offline if you are in the area.

So far I think Nathan and NewWorldBonsai seem to have nailed it. The monthly Livermore bonsai club meets up the street the 3rd Saturday of the month so will bring this in and have them weigh in on it as well.

I'll take some better pics tomorrow and upload to dropbox in full quality. Either way, it may be a long way back to health for this one before we know for sure.
