Artificial tree?

i asked how often do you have to water it? Im anxiously awaiting their reply. Keep you posted

Actualy that mud man looks to be pretty old. Many of that type which looks to be of the old type command pretty good prices to collectors.

Here is one I have from the 1890-1920 era. Compare mine to the one sold at $125, the tenth one down. Mine is the same size and looks identicle from the back. Mine is holding a gourd.

I actually wondered about that...though...no really mention of it on the auction if I recall correctly.

I emailed them a few hours ago telling them that the tree wasn't real. Got a response back a few minutes ago:

"Hello and thanks for writing. How can you tell this is an artificial tree? What are the leaves made out of - they feel really dry. It does not feel like any kind of silk greenery that I have owned in the past. The trunk is wood and we have been watering it every day since purchase. Feeling a bit on the stupid side if I have been watering a fake tree and thought it was sick - maybe it's just dirty :). Thanks again for writing and for helping."

.....watering it every day since purchase.....every day....

Watering it every day...had it been real...it would be really dead by now! Lol

Yea, especially since that is probably an antique Imari Ware porcelain Ikebana holeless dish....

,,,,probably worth $500.00

Total worth for the package is now at $625.00

Anyone gonna bid?

Drats...just when I was gonna bid...

The mad man looks to be almost the same as yours, just the colors are a bit different, and it is holding also a gourd. The thing that worries me is that stuff that looks like soil is actually cement, for it to hold all that wood above. The way the figurine looks like is that is embedded in the cement and it might break if you try to remove it.
But you guys, you are having fun, asking this questions. I also think it is real funny to water a fake tree.
