I’ve seen a lot of post on tree progressions so decided to do two on my first two Bald Cypresses. This tree was collected early March. Any suggestions On things to keep the tree healthy, or timing on thinning of branches, styling, etc will are welcomed.

First picture is of when I collected the tree.

Second is first budding from trunk.

And last two are current on 5/3/21 almost two months after initial chop.

It looks good.
mid it were mine, I would have trouble not messing with it, but would try to wait until the leaves fell off to go in and select some branches to keep and then plan the next step. They grow so fast they are hard to resist, but the first year is for healing ramd growing roots.

You are right, it’s hard not to care for them “too much”

Looking for suggestions on broom style or what I’d call traditional style (I’m thinking similar to the two pictures below). Pictures above are what the tree currently looks like and has two potential healthy leaders (3rd picture). What’s your thoughts?

To get it to look like the last two pics........especially the last one......you're going to have to start bending those branches down. Wire will do it but wire digs in FAST on a first year cypress. I massage (with two "a's" this time) the branches down over a week or two and that normally gets them close to where they need to be.

yes, my plan was to work on styling this one soon. That’s why I was asking for suggestions on which direction to go.

on which direction to go

Back into the swamp. Deeper!

You managed to pull the traded Chevy Volt out of the Bentley Dealer where everything is free.

Crash that shit on purpose and go get your Bentley!
