Sapling
Hi everybody -
I'm a bonsai newbie and would appreciate feedback regarding some of my bald cypress seedlings. I started with 50 seeds this spring, and most of them are growing nicely. My initial plan is grow them out over the next several years to thicken the trunk before doing a trunk chop and further styling
Several of my BC appear to have dual leaders making up their apex. Some example photos are attached. I understand these trees are apically dominant, and heavy growth up top is good and will drive thickening of the trunk. But I'm not sure if these trees' growth patterns will result in reverse taper problems later on.
Questions:
Ideally should I have done some styling to encourage these trees to develop with a single leader?
Do you recommend I leave the trees as-is, or should I prune to establish a single leader?
If you recommend pruning back to a single leader, when is a good time to do so?
Thanks!
