Beginner Douglas Fir

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm also interested in Doug Fir and thought maybe this could be a visual aid for everyone.

I collected this guy last year, but I believe it would've been the equivalent of a 3yr old sapling. It's been growing very vigorously (through the second colander and into the ground in the past 2 months)

My plan is to clear out the limbs on the middle 50percent, so that the low branches-which are showing weakness- don't die off completely. But, I'm happy to hear other folks thoughts!

Looks like a big job to me. If that's the plan then you might consider reducing most of the foliage above the red line, leaving a little at the top to do it's thing with the trunk and then begin to push back growth on the lower branches so you have more growth back towards the trunk verses clear out on the ends of the branches with less growth in towards the trunk.

Are u going to start a new apex, dead wood the area above the red line or ??
