Hey all. I am about to move to LA, more specifically, North Hollywood area. I have quite a few trees at home, most of which are not worth worrying about, however, I do have a few trees I would like to take with me, despite their minimal development. One is a fairly large Trident Maple. A few other medium size maples, some medium-large Cal Juni's, and a few other misc trees.

Does anyone know of any places in the LA area that board trees, and if so, what they may charge? I am familiar with Fuji Bonsai, Kimura Bonsai Nursery, Chikugo-En, and San Gabriel Nursery, but am not aware if any of them board trees.

If you know of anything, or any other good, cheap, safe, different ideas, I'd love to hear! Thanks all!

Boarding trees for what reason, do you mean while your moving to your new home?

No. I will be at my new apartment for the next year, at least, and I would like to continue to work on my trees and not have to get rid of them. Basically, keep my trees at a nursery where they will at very least be watered and watched, and hopefully I could go on weekends to work on them, etc. I am not sure that a local public garden would be a safe place to keep trees. And at the moment, I don't have any friends in the area that have a little space/ land where I could keep them. Which is why I am looking to a professional nursery that may offer this type of service.

Ah i see no outdoor space at your new apt?

I know that some of the nurseries you mentioned do keep customers trees from time to time. I've inquired about trees from time to time only to be told they were customers trees. I'm sure there is some fee associated with it but I know it does happen at some of those nurseries.

The space is about 3' x 6' with no fence/ wall and its facing the street, on the first floor. It'd be great for showing off something to steal! Not so great for keeping half a dozen to a dozen trees.

I have left my more valuable trees at Roy Nagatoshi's nursery (Fuji Bonsai) before when I was on vacation. He never charged me. I am one of his students though. He is a real nice guy. I would check with him first. He has workshops on Thursdays ans Saturdays where you could work on your trees.
