@Bonsai Nut origin story

BonsaiNut T-Shirts!! I would happily buy and wear to show my love and appreciation for this site. Thank you for building and maintaining this active learning space and all members who contribute to the community to help us all learn more about this fascinating art together.

@Bonsai Nut , what do you see for the site in the future, ie, do you anticipate continued growth, additional features, taking on volunteer staff/interns, etc in order to lessen your workload as the forum takes on more members?

I love bnut because I don't have a really knowledgeable bonsai club where I live.

What is your take on what happened to the Dwemer after the Battle of red mountain?

Since the beginning of the site, I have focused on organic growth - ie the site is as big as it needs to be based on the members and the content. I am not interested in introducing features for the sake of introducing them, and if anything, am concerned about the site growing past a point of usability where suddenly web traffic becomes more important than content. There are a few improvements I'd like to make - things that I continue to review and test to see whether it is suitable for the site - but nothing that is going to happen in the short term. I am avoiding heavy moderation or the introduction of too many "staff" to the site, because if I am the only one moderating posts, I can at least guarantee a light touch and relative consistency in editorial approach. One thing that I had to hand off was the administration of the contests - where the details became too much to handle once we started to do several per year. I think setting up each contest with its own leader who is given control over both the contest and the contest forum has worked well.

Someone's been playing the remaster :)

Now that we have a general overview of the forum and its creation...
@Bonsai Nut , what triggered your interest in bonsai? I think it's great the way this site is sort of a culmination of your interests, abilities, training, and life experience. I'm curious about which interests developed first: bonsai or tech?

Circling back to this...
I think this is probably the best solution possible. It gives ownership to the member who runs the contest, and accountability for the participants. The forum as a whole, for that matter, seems to hold itself accountable to a pretty high degree. You may have started the forum, but I think that a lot of the veterans and regulars keep it mostly civil and focused on its purpose.
