Wiring is one of the essential tools for developing and refining Bonsai. Knowing when and how to apply it properly makes the difference. Newer techniques that allow the effective use of less wire, now they are a financial blessing!
Wax on, Wax off, Wax on, Wax off.
In the beginning, so frustrating, In the end so rewarding!
As my teacher said to me many times. (Take it off, Do it again) until he finally said, (you should take a break:))
Now i enjoy wiring and the results after years of practise!
Having said that i need to buy more wire this month.

I wire everything. I essentially "draw" my trees with wire. I don't subscribe to just the clip and grow method. I think you get more natural lines using both wire and clip and grow method. When I look at trees in nature, the branches have a combination of curves, zig zags and sharp angles that give the tree visual richness, movement and variety.

I have had a love-hate relationship with wire for 40 years. I am still not particularly good at it, and I don't like doing it. I find wiring tedious.

But I do it.

Most trees at some point will need wire, and I'll do it.

If I could get away with clip and grow I would, though truth is, the only trees I am willing to show club members have been wired many times.

I am slowing making friends with copper wire, I do like copper's holding power.
