Hello

My orange tree is showing these spots on some month-old leaves and losing them immediately after putting out a number of new leaves I’ve not seen before. Why? It is outside in the sunlight and is watered when the soil is dry. I’m aware I have the wrong soil but have been told I should wait to spring to rectify the issue. Tree is fertilized once a month.
As well, the ‘older’ branch in the first picture has lost all of its leaves. Can I fix this via cutbacks or is it just deadwood now?

I'm no citrus expert, but I see a lot of them in these parts. The tops of the old branches look dead, but I wouldn't cut anything off yet. It might backbud further down, so I'd wait to see how far it dies back. The new growth looks plenty healthy. My vague guess is either fungal issue, water issue, or salt issue. I would lean toward fungal since Virginia is higher humidity than its native range, and you've been letting the soil dry between waterings, but again no expert. Citrus can suffer from any number of ailments. Here's a website that shows the symptoms of many citrus conditions. You may find it helpful.

P1100417.JPG got similiar spots sometimes on my lemon, my guess is sunburn
i remove badly damaged leaves, this one stays cuz only minor damage

(also no expert, just grow this plant from seed and didnt manage to kill it yet :) surprised how much resilient that tree is)
i keep mine indoor in growbox for humidity
how old is your orange?

About 5 years, grew it from seed during the pandemic. Undersized because I didn’t know to fertilize it or keep it outside for 4 of those years

It has been extremely wet here in VA this summer. What kind of soil is this in? Leaf issues are usually manifestations of root issues. Pics of the soil might help

like mine..
my lemon is indoor plant, i use growbox but years ago saw plenty mini citrus tree growed on windowsills in Poland

when u repotted? after looking via proxy at @Esolin link it may also looks like salts - so maybe water and soil issue.

if its this i may have same problem (just discovered some white residue on bottom of my pot ) finally use proper citrus soil instead of supermarket soil for plants
also - which fertilizer - i use some "worm juice" called biohumus, this year started using citrus labeled

sorry for post under post, in ur older topics with pictures seems your tree grew alot from may and likely decided to put all grow effort into new shots
that shorter branch may be deadwood

Soil is a tropical bonsai mix the tree’s been in for about a year now. Needs changing this spring and will be exchanged for a temperate mix.

Soil looks like this. I live very rurally so my water is somewhat hard; might it be better to water with distilled?

hard water also might be cause of yellowing..
rainwater seems easier to get
