Can (should?) I....build.... a pine trunk extension?

If you were going to go down this path I would use... wait for it...

WOOD GLUE :)

Seriously - wood glue for carpenters. There are a lot of different varieties but I would use Titebond III. Water soluble, waterproof, and will form wood bonds harder than the original material.

Hmmmmm there's gotta be a downside.
What if somehow water gets UNDER glue?
Hmmmmm guess it would soak into existing dry wood.
Hmmmmm
Why did I ever bring this up?
Now I'm looking around for yamadori wood chips!

Okay, the deed is done.
I went out in the woods and found a dead-ish pine. (Not Scots of course)
Picked up some dead fallen limbs of...about... the right size.
Then I looked at the tree and it had a BROKEN dead branch that looked about the same size, too.
Sooo..... sawed off that stub and brought it home.

Carved and glued. I left the bark on the stub I sawed off. It slipped right off when I tried it so I kept the bark "sleeve" and put it on the stub.

Not sure if I like it better before or after putting the bark back on. ?????
I kinda think I will like the bark as it colors up a bit and gets dirty(er).

I do like that the branch I took was already broken so the break IS natural and I didn't have to try to mimic a break to LOOK natural.0419170746.jpg 0419170746a.jpg 0420170935.jpg 0420170936.jpg 0420170938.jpg

What think?

I think you should have left it as it was before.

I will NOT create a fake deadwood to any tree! If it already part of the tree then I will keep/maintain it.

And I wish I ...had....stubbed it instead of removing when I styled the tree.

AWRIGHT AWRIGHT !!!!

I put it back to its old hole.

Do I mind doing that?

Naaaahhhhhh!!! I don't mind.
I'm easy.....

:D

Actually, what I did was go put about 17 ounces of pressure on my NEW branch and ...... smoofff.... off it came.
Nothing else to do but peel off some glue and.....it's back to where it was.
