Looks like you have a nice start already! How tall is it? It looks pretty large.

Its 41"x34". I like what I saw in the ground when I dug it. It had nice movement, and I didn't have to cut a lot of it. I have seen so many collected cedar elm where they top it off, and it never looks right. This one also has a cut at the top, but its close enough to the apex, that I think I will be able to blend it in.

Two things against Cedar elm. They don't heal big scars as previously mentioned, and they don't taper very much. So don't do a heavy chop on one.
They really ramify like crazy, reduce leaves beautifully, and take a lot of abuse. They are really great in forest plantings and most of the time that is what you will see, if you get the right one collected, it can do well solo too.

Nice pot.

My cedar elm seem to be healing well from previous chop and I just collected it 2 years ago. Worst case, they make nice uro. :D

I'm doing a project cedar elm stump where the top chop is about 4" diameter and about 9" high. We will see in a few years if it will turn into something or if it will be tossed to the burn pile.
