I have some 1 year old crabapple seedlings that are about 10 inches tall and a bit thinner than a pencil. I planted them in the ground to fatten up quicker than in a pot.

Can I wire the "trunk" now to create some movement? Do crabapple bend easily and tolerate it well?

Thanks

Frank

What I've found is that you almost have to, or else the trunk looks like a beer can. If you are going to use wire, then really pay attention to it because the bark will scar easily. A lot is going to depend on how much movement you want, but from what I've found is that you can create some serious bends and turns and they've held.
