I broke my own rule.
This fir was worked-on only 2 months after collection.
Normally it would be left alone to recover for at least a year; but in this case, the tree is healthy and there’s a few things I’m trying out/testing.

One leader and two branch ends were stripped, some needles were trimmed; and dead, old, or proportionally large foliage was plucked from inner branching/crotches.

Care for the rest of the summer involves adding more muck/moss to the root mound, frequent watering, and mist on especially hot days. Placement is mostly shade.

This composition is meant to portray a forest tree growing on an unstable slope. It will get a more suitable pot one day.
Features include a broken top, spike knots, a large healed wound, fine dead branches, small needles, and pistol butt.

Needles like this were removed to open up branch structure and encourage bud formation.

Really nice tree! Very interested in seeing how this tree progresses.

What’s your fertilization schedule/amounts for this tree?

Cheers
