WIND had already messed up some scrap Tridents!
So...they got SHORTENED !!!



I chopped another and it's beginning to get interesting.



Now, in summer I'm sure I can get it TOASTED !!!
Heat AND wind. The perfect Central Valley combo.

Had to remove wire from Mr. Spindly, too.
Man, those trees expand FAST !!!

Glad they were scrawny little shits that did NOTHING I wanted them to.
Started a "stick forest" UGH.... Wrong way branches all the way around. Snip em off and get an ugly scar.

Cut that crap off and got ugly SCARS!
All that time spent on MAPLES that fry in this place.



You'll note that the front stub created its own exposed roots.

That IS a day after removal but you can see the edges.

I built a bench on my North side of the house to keep some sissy trees outa the mid day sun. Double as winter storage under. Gets only morning and evening sun during summer.

I’m having better luck in SoCal this year growing maples in filtered sun until noon, then shade for the rest of the day.

I do have some of the thicker-leaved trident cultivars that take direct sun from about 11am-6pm without any scorch. Of course they’re in nursery containers still.

So happy for oaks and olives. Especially oaks.

In south Louisiana, my maples were all scorched until I put them at the edge of the East side of my porch. They now get sun from 7 till noon and none after. They are so much better now. No more leaf burn and they grow well.
