Developing a large Willow Leaf Ficus

I just repotted a willow leaf that is growing strong. I did a major root reduction and the top could use a major cut-back as well. Is it safe for me to do that now, or should I wait for it to recover first?

If it’s healthy and you have some good warm weather ahead, it should be fine to cut back.

You guys are quick - I had to take it to a Chinese antique furniture store. They didn’t know at first, but the proprietors grandfather worked there on occassion repairing old furniture. He had one as a child. For those who don’t know, hot coal was put into the cup part. The bottom is very flat and it was used to iron clothing.

I remember my mom telling me about her grandma having one, and that they would pour coal in it and it kind of looked like a small pot. My other guess was a repurposed desk lamp shade (because bulbs get hot), lol.

Unfortunately no. I’ve sold this one- downsizing my tropical collection. Glad you got something out of it!
