I mean they do grow from cuttings. Wondering if older wood can be airlayered too, for better nebari. Maybe you have had success airlayering similar Piceas?

I find these things for free sometimes, but they have thick roots that grow in circles.

to each their own, but i heard they are kind of 'meh' for bonsai as a species, generally

I had a bunch that were buried too deep for five years, but they never produced any new roots so I think air layers are out of the question.
But they're 3 euros on sale, it wouldn't be hard to find a couple with a decent nebari.
