This fella caught my eye the other day and I couldn't resist, love the base, and a whole lot to work with. Native to Puerto Rico so should do great where I'm at....for now to let him get comfortable in his new digs..

Always remember... when you evaluate a tree start at the base and work your way up.

(1) The surface roots and base of the trunk
(2) The trunk line, movement and taper
(3) Primary branching, location and scale
(4) Secondary branching and refinement

They are listed in order of impact on the viewer... and time to develop and fix. People will pay $$$ for a bare trunk with no branching if it has great surface roots and trunk line.

I consider your purchase advanced material :) Not saying you can't make a great bonsai from it, but it ain't gonna be easy :)

I was hoping...and tell me if this is a bad way to look at it...that as I progress in my bonsai journey...that this tree will slowly progress with me. Im not a teenager any more by any means. But im not in a rush, and I love a challenge. I hope everything that needs to be corrected can be done over time, and with some help from you guys.

@Bonsai Nut as usual thanks for the help. Im sure there is going to be questions in the future
