Liquidambars and some oaks. Sorry for the background. Everything washes out and blends when I take pictures in the yard and my porch wall is pretty inelegant.

I guess I can play now with my bald cypresses!

Small ginko finally moving towards yellow, and a weird juniper that looks better in fall and winter than spring-summer.

Fall don't like my oak...

My oak... green and barely yellow.

My neigbohrs... red, orange and purples...

As Magritte could have said "this is not a bonsai".
But Acer discolor has such nice, unusual colours in autumn, from pale green to pink, that I've always wanted to try something with them (I have 3, from 1m. 50 to 2 m., roughly 5 to 7 feet). Air-layerings, cuttings, ... ?

'Deshojo' :

I love "variegated" maples, but not bonsai. Yet, I think some in the "ghost" series (reticulated rather than variegated, OK) could perhaps find their way into the community in the hands of good "cultivators".

I went for a walk in a park today. I could spot a vivid red tree in the distance. I came closer, and I think it's Acer palmatum 'O-sakazuki' :

Some of my seedlings are also showing late coloured leaves. Candidates for a "forest" or a "grove". These ones are from 'Sango kaku', but not showing the typical red colour of the bark -so far :

And half of my Chinese pistache

Oriental liquidambar starting to change, last year all I got was deep purple when we got the snow. This year I have a few more colors.

Small Chi-Chi finally turned yellow and drop all the leaves

My boring Chinese elm turned purple this year! It’s got no movement, no taper, just vibes. But it was one of my first trees.

It’s fallen off the bench and out of its pot at least 4 times this year, and hasn’t quite fit back into the pot correctly. It’s now tied down 😂
