I seen this on my tree just before and plucked it off. It felt a little hard with a crispy type of decay when crushing it with my finger. This couldn't have been a dried up fruit, could it? First I've seen something like this since usually when the flowers die they just become droopy and brown, but nothing like this.

Because many of these trees are kept indoors, and don't have access to pollinators, you don't frequently see fruit on them. When they do fruit, they have small "berries" that start out green, and eventually turn a bright red and look a lot like a cherry. Perhaps you have an immature fruit bud?

Exactly so. They are part of the untidy nature of this plant. Mine is always dropping spent flowers and aborted fruits, as well as older leaves.

Looks like a tick to me. I used to get them every now and then. lol

Is it safe to say that it was a fruit seed that didn't have a chance to bloom? Especially if I plucked it off when I did.

Just as I gave up thinking that this plant will produce fruit... 😅
