There's a really interestingly shaped Camphor tree that I've taken notice of recently and a few days ago, had the chance to get a closer look at. First, a picture of the tree as I originally saw it:

When I got closer to the tree, I discovered this:

Not including the third branch on the bottom left, the two closer branches probably span a good eight feet. I was quite amazed. It really is an amazing structure to behold in person.

From a slightly different angle:

very cool, excellent deadwood, and looks really old. What is the white thing at the base?

Looks to me like a weathered sign stuck between a crack in the deadwood - is that an elephant and a tiger? :p I'm going to have to go back and get another picture!

I really like the way the callus is rolling around the edges of the deadwood. This is sort of echoing (in a huge way...) what I have on a maple of mine, and I'm going to use it for inspiration there. Here's a closeup of the deadwood on mine.
