Was feeling a philosophical when I remembered this song the other night.
Took the kids camping, and as we're roasting marshmallows my two-year-old son says, "sky broken, daddy," apparently confused that it was getting dark but there weren't any stars out yet. Now, in the next breath he shouts, "star, daddy! Look star," and points out the first little glimmering spot amidst the twilight blue. So he knew everything was alright, but it did get me thinking; what if the sky HAD broken, and the moon had cracked? What house would I go on up to?

I MAY have shared this exact song here, before..

But @ShadyStump got me back into my Tom Waits obsession....

One of my favorites!
Here's a good morning song.
Got caught playing this one loud one morning back in my sea cook days with the coast guard. The boatswain walks up to the galley with a perplexed look on her face.
"Don't you know Tom Waits," I ask.
"He sounds angry."
I smirk. "He was a coasty back in the day."

I really enjoy that ONE (you KNOW what I’m speaking of) oddly haunting, spoken word descriptive track on EACH album.. a direct “dive” into the dark recesses of Tom Waits’ (the actual Tom Waits) soul.. gives me shivery goosebumps everytime.
