I wanted a bigger start for a Kingsville, have a couple smaller 10+ year olds, finally found one at a garden center online. This was supposedly used as a mother plant for a while, looks like it's much older than anything I have.
Lots of options, will take a while to get a good shape, but it's got 2x trunk than anything over got on my collection

Bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. The trunk on this is not going to be easy to sort out.

One of those trunks should probably be sacrificed. They don’t match each other in character and are about the same diameter. Personally I’d get rid of the bolt upright trunk

You’re also going to have to spend some time reducing the height to bring the ends of branches to six inches or so

I was thinking of taking that trunk for the real tree, either as a cutting or a layer - ditto for some of the branches, start a forest. Options.

You can spend time doing that. That straight trunk is really boring and won’t get any better for three or four decades or more.

I have maybe , 15+ cuttings from my good mother plant, kingsville. They are still small and growing well after 7 + years.
The base of this tree doesn’t leave many options from my vantage point.

Thanks
