Hairy Caterpillar??

I found 2 of these today, one on one of my display tables and on one of my yaupons. It has very luxurient peach colored hair. Quite stylish actually!

I've never seen one of these before and was wondering if anyone knew what they are?

My wife must be a Klingon because she freaked out when she saw it.

BTW, this critter was about 1 1/2 inches long. The one I found in the holly was a bit bigger.

It is a puss caterpillar. It turns into a flannel moth.

It's a type of Asp with a nasty sting!
