Hey nuts! I recently purchased my first home and due to the increased sun exposure I’ve needed some extra help keeping my trees cooled. Luckily, my yard came with a built in sprinkler system. I’ve managed to convert a line into a mist/watering system (via a sprinkler to drip conversion) and it’s been working out great, but it’s leaving hard water stains on some of my trees specifically my ginkgos, redwoods, live oaks, a smoke tree, and princess persimmons. 6569E407-D6C1-49C5-80C8-42AA41D22178.jpeg

I have this little filter I’ve attached to my hose I use to do my actual watering in the morning that works great288350D4-7421-4C60-9806-A07B9D2C01A8.jpeg, but I’m a sprinkler novice and could use some advice on some sort of filter on my sprinklers. Most of what I can find that would attach to the sprinkler head itself is just a mesh screen, which I don’t see helping and the conversion kit already has.

Does anyone with a build in irrigation or watering system have a decent filter? I know I don’t want to use a water softener due to the addition of salt and would want some sort of carbon filter.(?)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations on the new house.
Yikes. I've never seen such mineral deposits on trees like that.
I'm sorry I'm not familiar with built in watering systems to know if there is a filter for that. Try looking up the manufacturer of the system and see if they have something that would work?

@Bonsai Nut used to live in California. Maybe he could give some advice

Thank you! Yes, it’s quite bad. I had a similar issue at my old place but the inline filter for the hose worked fine for my needs. I might try and find a way to rig up the same filter to my sprinkler line. I’m planning on getting rid of the grass my benches are on and replacing it with gravel so maybe when I do that I can rig something up and have it look nice, we’ll see.
