For personal interest of any here very interesting PBS documentary on Dielmans Monarch a semi famous Limber pine in the Wallowas;). Also if interested small Whitebark and (I think) Limber pine available from one southern Oregon nursery. Some sell "cultivars"/these are not.

Found my ID book... Looks like I’ll need to go back and look at the cones to make an accurate ID.

I’m really thinking the trees in the area we were hiking are Whitebark Pines, but will confirm when we go back and look at the cones.C904948C-BCD0-462E-9A4A-AFDD0CB581C5.jpeg26AF7280-4533-46B0-B6B5-400D93E3ADD0.jpeg

Please add personal location to profile. Are you native or transplant?

Finally found where to edit that info.... I am not native to OR... I'm partially transplanted from Hawaii. My roots stretch across the pacific... LOL

Where did you find these trees? Location not altitude:confused:.
Eastern Oregon.... BTW the main tree in question was identified as Abies Grandis x Concolor.... a naturally occurring hybrid
