Haha, no problem.
The granule time-release stuff is going to be great for an overall fertilizer. I personally do not use it on my trees, I use the liquid mix kind. The benefits of the cakes - You can determine exactly what you're going to feed your plants based on the season and the needs. Also, as mentioned, you can physically place them where you want them. Might not seem very important but when thinking about the method of feeding the roots near the trunk more, it is very helpful. Additional benefit to the cakes - they generally are not as harsh as some of the store bought options. Most of those are marketed to produce "amazing green growth!" and as such have very high N content. Great for growing things out, bad if you're looking to start refining trees.
I am not the best source for fertilization questions as I do not have as rigid a schedule as others but hopefully that helps.

I just pulled a 3 foot Dogwood out from the underbrush on my property yesterday and potted it. So in my eyes I did plant it from seed

Let's see if I got this right, Judy B has sowed her seeds and we all agree that although a man should be able to whack his stump, if he be so fortunate to possess one, anyway he wants, but if he asks for advice on how to do it properly he should have the patience to apply the proper lubricants, especially if he wants to post it as his avatar.

Well it seems that once you cross the line in someon's mind that you should not cross you will not be allowed to come back even if that line has been proved to be faulty.
However; if you (generic reference) come on to this forum with the idea that you deserve special treatment you probably have come to the wrong place.
If you were paying for the kind of treatment you receive that would be a different issue, then you might have a place to carp.
You would have to pay me $150 for a two hour workshop to get the kind of information you can get from me for free----if I feel like I want to share it with you. There is no contract or guarantee that I have to do anything on this forum and having people abuse my input along the way will only get back the same.

No one meant to offend you, sometimes things don't always come across the way they were intended on the INTERNET---you should know that. All totaled there is probably a couple of thousand years of experience on this forum and so far you have blown of a coupld of centuries worth.

Yes! Please someone! Go to the New to Bonsai Fukien Tea thread and give some advice. I started out telling them what I do and had to back up because it is not the normal way people handle them but it works for me. He needs more precise "normal" method advice.
