IMG_1183.jpegIMG_1602.jpegIMG_1603.jpegIMG_1604.jpegIMG_1605.jpegThis is my Japanese black pine, is the color off and the pines on the bottom seems to be turning red/yellow? This sapling came with a moist soil substrate with no pot and I just put it in a mix of perlite, coco coir, and orchid bark. Was I supposed to remove some of the substrate it with first (I attached a pic of how it came a month ago)? I tried to take picture of what the soil it came with looked like. The substrate around it dries pretty quick while that ball of soil it came in stays pretty wet/moist. Do I take it out and remove the soil (some, most, if not all) without disturbing the roots much and place it back in its pot? Thank you.

Ought leave it I reckon.
Where'd it come from?
Heard tell South Texas too hot for them. Probably a myth.
It will probably start growing soon.

Refer back to the advice on the first thread you started for this tree. You'll probably lose the lower bud. There's nothing you can do now but keep it correctly watered.

Black pines do fine in Texas. My 2 year Olds are twice, thrice the size of JBP from seed grown further north.
