I heard on the radio this morning that NWS expects the storm to stall as it moves inshore, and they are predicting up to 36" of rain across the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, and maybe into eastern Tennessee. That amount of rainfall gets REALLY dangerous in mountainous areas causing flash floods and quickly overwhelming stormwater systems. (We had 2" of rain in one hour about a month ago, and numerous roads were underwater... and we're NOT in the mountains. Can't imagine what 36" of rain in 48-72 hours would do). In one of the reports I was listening to, the expert said they expect far more deaths inland from the flooding, than from the winds or surge at the coast. Be hyper-cautious out there, folks.
