If you're in the area, come check out the annual Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Gardens on labor day weekend. The Bonsai Society of Greater St. Louis will have an exhibit in the Farr auditorium throughout the entire festival - usually about 35 trees. I think this year we are even testing a community voting/judging app for a people's choice award. We'll also have daily demonstrations and a sales tent featuring some local growers and potters.

This is actually a huge event and has way more than just bonsai. Japanese cultural dancing, drumming, art, food, Ikebana display, more food, sumo wrestling, anime, Pokémon scavenger hunt for the kids...so much stuff. I think it's the largest or second largest Japanese heritage festivals outside of Japan. If you stop by, ask one of the bonsai volunteers where Mike V. is and say hi.
