The default position for a camera phone or a real camera is LETTERBOX formatt. The Camera on a phone and a real camera is designed to be taken horizontaly. If you hold your phone in the manner in which you hold it to your face to take a picture ( to fill the field in the viewer with the verticle tree.) and then post it to this site, the fomatt will be sideways. If you have a home computer you can fix the photos before posting, if you don't and add directly from your phone, then please take horizontal formatt pictures with your phone and post them correctly for others to enjoy. Don't be rude or lazy, just do it right.

Notice post seven here

It is easy to see that the photo taken horizontally posted correctly while those taken vertically post sideways.

Easy peasy, get with it!

After the initial surprise of seeing sideways photos from my iPhone i figured out how to rotate them.

While holding the phone vertically hit the photo, got to edit and touch the rotate icon. Even if the shot appears upright do it anyways, turn the photo sideways save it then turn it upright again. By doing this it doesn't matter what orientation the pic was taken it'll come out upright anyways.

It worked for my phone.

Obviously you are not lazy and respect the viewers. Thank you.

So rotated in "photo studio", they are valid, but still sideways.

This must be done on pc?

I don't own, and probably wouldn't use if I did, one of the smartassphones, but I've been told that the ease of taking vertical pictures varies with the brand of phone and operating system. And who knows what Apple's two new "Sixes" will do.

God help us if people start viewing and photographing with the new I-watch -- if that is (hopefully not) possible.

My Samsung Galaxy is smart enough to correctly orient all of my photos without me having to manually adjust them. This sounds like an Apple only problem.
