Hello looking for help identifying the kind I’m of maple this stump is. I think it must have been grafted and is growing from the root stock so it is going quite low. Not really sure on what I should even try to accomplish style wise.

Any help with variety or moving forward with this monstrosity would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hmm...looks like Silver Maple 🍁 to me but could be wrong. Thinking maybe wait till a bud or two pops closer to the top if possible to select the new primary leader that will become the new trunk line. Let that grow as tall as it needs to get to thicken for proper taper for that trunk size. Depending on style you want you may have to prune progressively to shape with clip and grow techniques. Trunk looks good to start with though. Long view project that will take many years but hopefully you look forward to that. I've heard silver maple you might need to grow a little taller as nodes are hard to reduce. I do wish you luck!

very cool.
woudnt prune anything foe a year or two.
i would wire the branches horizontal apart from one leader
