While walking the dog today, I stumbled upon this visually striking Pinus rigida. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the photo doesn’t fully capture the contorted nature of this particular Pitch Pine.

Unfortunately it’s hard to see in these pics but this is the fluting of Ulmus laevis. Those roots are about two feet tall and 9” wide. And the second two pics are the “knees” they create
