Multiple Azaleas in one pot

I feel like I’ve seen the quoted advice - any chance it’s from Walter Pall? I don’t want to misattribute it.

Hi Carol. That was my favorite one of the group. My 4 in one pot all did well this summer and one has been blooming a few days while the others have big fat buds. Following is a picture of one in bloom, another just starting and one not far behind. It may just be a thing about these florist azaleas.
BTW, it was 35F last night and they look fine. They will winter in either a cold frame or under a hoop tunnel.

Yay!! Good for you! I am kind of hating the idea of putting them in the garage, they are still blooming/have buds. Next week is highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's, so I won't have to think about it for a bit.

I wish I had bought 2 of these multi pots so I could play around with cold hardiness expectations and reality. I went back just a few days after I bought mine and they were all gone. I will be watching this coming season a couple weeks before Valentines Day.
Its a great connection we have that we can share our experiences. :D

Me too. I am flirting with the idea of bringing in one for the winter.

There's always room for one more. ;)
You would think so but there is about 20 more waiting in the middle of my dining room for a space under lights now. I actually have to get rid of some plants.

That's why I am shipping out a box of cuttings tomorrow,

Mine are still blooming. All 4 are in bloom now. They have survived 2 nights at 31F. That is also expected tonight. Color were brighter in the spring but they are very welcome now.

@Carol 83 did I understand correctly that you’re overwintering in the garage? That is my plan as well but this is my first year with satsuki in pots and they did well this past summer so I’m definitely looking to minimize risk… any tips and hints are welcome!

My garage is detached and unheated. I kept the azaleas, crapes and Nippon Daisies in there last year and they did fine. Probably watered once a week, no exceptional hoops to jump through.

Isn't if fun? So glad you posted when you bought yours and I just happened to have to stop by Wal-mart and pick one up.
I am going to check again next year a couple weeks before Valentines Day.
