Damn....why didn't I think of this.I’d switch to this if you’re going to be feeding the neighborhood of critters.
7$ a pound.
Works well, and since it’s cheap the critters may go else where.View attachment 617464
My last cut paste I ordered on line as I couldn't find any near to home. I think it came from Japan for around $18 as I remember but it lasts me years.Damn....why didn't I think of this.
Bonsai cut paste is not easy to come by in NZ.
I'll give this a go...got nothing to loose.
Thank you.

It happened over winter with me. Had a lot of rain...and slugs and snails. In my case it's always slugs and snails.
Good to hear. I got me some plumbers putty. Its white but i'll get used to it.I have never used traditional bonsai cut paste. Plumbers putty is cheap and works great for me. It is made from clay and mineral oils, never had a problem.
So far i'm not to impressed with the plumbers putty. Its to sticky to the fingers....way more than cut paste. In my experience, plumbers putty (the stuff we have state-side) becomes very hard and actually impeded callus growth.
I've been thinking about this idea in the past. I just went out and put some duck tape on a scar. I'll keep an eagle eye on it.A good chunk of folks have reported a product such as the one below as being superior to any cut paste on most bonsai. Something I’m planning to test next year.
