My First Bonsai (Father's Day 2018) - Eastern Red Cedar - Comments?

So here’s one with potential.
If this was wired and maintained at this size for multiple years promoting growth and style.....what goes wrong? can someone unravel the erc myth into reality???

Does it simply come down to that if you develop the leaves as soon as you cut them, they revert to sharp herbivory defenses?? Is it keeping them alive in pots...Or is it deeper?

I'm going to repot mine in a month or so...
This will solidify some of my opinions.

But now...

While they are not HIGHLY predictable...

There is a very clear cause and effect..
Action and reaction...
That can be read.

I haven't had anything "random" (branch death etc..) Happen yet.

I caused every problem, and have identified how to fix them.

Is there more to ask for?
That's all I need to consider something worthy.

I don't see how it getting any older is going to change this. More years of observation should just prove more useful.

Eventually....they will grow adult foliage.

IMO..
Treat em like a Juniper.
But Don't!
