My not so little Serissa

'snarly'= snippy, short, curt

really, now you are being snarly!... :)

But not to worry, I asked to a guy at my job, according to him 'being snarly' means like 'having an attitude'
That's what I though ;)

Alain,
You could, when you repot, leave more of the roots exposed and have more of a "negari style". Those thick roots will twist and turn pretty far down. Don't do it all at once, just an inch or so at a time.

My little buddy being done with his 'turning the leaves yellow just to show you that I don't care much for having been moved to your yard' phase I decided to prune it as Mellow Mullet suggested I should.

So here is a picture of the result as well as 3 new pictures of the roots (front, side 1, side 2) as now we can see better.

And now the tree is back to its place in my yard, where he started to turn its leaves yellow again... :confused:
But I'm not worried, I start to understand: Serissa do that when you move them, prune them, re-pot them, look at them, speak to them, no biggy...o_O

Yours might not be so little but my Serissa is?

Actually the title of this thread popped-up to my mind because before its first hair cut my serissa was really overgrowing in all directions :)

I love the little leaves on yours! :)

Hi there! :)

I though it was time to give you a little heads-up of my little buddy after its first winter in IL (I asked the vendor when I bought it thus I know it was born and raised in FL before moving here last year for the MBS exhibit).

I put it inside in the falls when the T was around 50 F and put it in a room where it's never really hot (around 60-55, never bellow 55F).
It was in front of a sunny window, on a table, approx 1 & 1/2 foot from the heater (central water system so no too dry) and I watered it once a week, on the week-end. I soaked the pot twice and the drainage water was raining on top of a walmart ficus over which I was holding the pot, it die btw...:rolleyes:

And here it is this afternoon after its first day outside during its spring cleaning:

The scissors aren't for the scale, it's just to brag with my new tools :p

I didn't use them a lot as I just removed one piece of branch that wasn't looking so well:

But for that I used my brand new branch cutter :p:p

So no big work at all today as you could see, it didn't need it anyway.
Just this part close to death I was really please with such a low casualty, I was expecting much more!
Furthermore this branch is even better off as there is already a new leader to replace it (red arrow to see you the spot):

I finished the cleaning by just helping the dead leaves to fall by sweeping them with the raffia from the guy wiring I put on in the falls and took off today (a Raffia spa treatment for gentle exfoliation or something) and I really love the way my little serissa looks, winter colors fit it well, it make it green chicks:

:cool::)

Now it is back inside and I think it will do that (day out, night in) until we reach a - steady - up 55 at night.

The next step will be in June if I remember well the advises of @Mellow Mullet with a straight air cut (close to US Marine hair cut) of the foliage and the work on the nebari.
Unless opposite advice from other Nuts I plan to do both the pruning and the re-pot at the same time (speaking of re-pot: great soil from the nursery! One year and 3 really contrasted seasons and it's still very good:cool:)

For the roots, as soon as I bought the tree, I was thinking negari (and promised @Cadillactaste to show the process a couple days ago actually) and envisioned something like @Mellow Mullet drew above.
But now I don't know anymore...

May be it will be a sort of 'Negari over the rock' style with this rock:

We'll see!:)
Anyway I've got till June to think about it;)
