Hello there!

I just got a new Serissa bonsai from the flower shop. They wired two branches from almost the bottom together.

I wonder what to do with this.
-Should I cut the smallest of the two?
-Should I separate them and wire them in a different style?

What are your thoughts on how to style and prune this bonsai?

Thank you!

Howdy Frank. Looks like you have patio. The serissa should be outside.

Is HK for Hong Kong? If not, let us know where you are located and we can give care info.

I reckon it was wired shortly before you bought it. I would let it acclimate before you do anything with it, including removing the wire.

Hi
Yes I’m in HK. During the winter months I get the sun on the window which is south facing. During summer the sun is not shining into the window.

Therefore I planned to put into inside during winter because it will be warmer at that spot and in summer bring it outside in the sun and sheltered from the wind.

Maybe flower shop is trying to make fusion tree? Serissa doesn't caliper very fast. I think leave as is, graft more into it, whatever you want. 2 things though. Serissa is a little finicky so keep it very steady with temp and light AND get plenty of cuttings! Serissa's strength is that they grow from cuttings easier than most.
