is there any where you guys have bought things off line that was good deal. Or have a vendor you love? Anyone been to plant city? Any one import tools from Japan? Anything in general just curious.

There's a whole list somewhere.
I would look in the tree selling, vendor forum.

Tell us what you are looking for and we will burden you with too much information. And a welcome for an old Mich-e-gander (not from the thumb, but from other side of state)

I live near Plant City and teach classes there. What do you want to know?

Isn't Smith on ebay associated with Brussels?

Mail order: I have dealt with International Bonsai (William and Diane Valavanis), Meehans Miniatures, Evergreen Gardenworks, Julian Adams for plant material. Stone Lantern and Dallas Bonsai for tools and supplies. All fine vendors, honest and dependable.

I have bought stuff from Matt Ouwinga who runs Kaede Bonsai en but not through the mail. However I would recommend Matt for any type of business, another good guy and he does mail order sales. A friend of mine knows Matt well and thinks very highly of him.

I have never bought stuff from Owen Reich but have taken workshops with him (check Bonsaiunearthed.com) Owen is a fine guy and I would not hesitate to do business with him. My friends the Meehans host him for workshops and think very highly of him as does his workshop students.

Augustine, read this thread "chain flower stores for bonsai.." Nov 6th, it is in this same forum... I put my 2 cents in about Brussels and Matt (BonsaiSmith)

Excuse for a glaring omission. I would definitely not hesitate to do business with don of Gregory Beach bonsai.

Adair I am planning on making a trip out there in the spring. It will be about 10 hour drive. Do they have good raw material at a good price. Will it be worth the drive?
