Operation: Overwinter (As coldfolk)

Learning much in my past two winters spent containerized tree/shrub gardening in, not only Zone 5a, but in the wildly chaotic transition months of Wisconsin seasonal change; I’ve decided to document THIS year’s HOPEFULLY “most successful yet” overwintering techniques and apparatuses I shall employ this time.

Please feel free to share yours, ESPECIALLY if you are cold like me.. or colder! Brrrrr!!

Started work on the area and structures today.. as we’ve been getting lows in the 20s.

Upon re-examination.. i think we are “ok”, here.
the utility worker can burrow my binoculars.

The BROAD details remind me of the platforms for the earliest, mass-marketed 3d console video games... like spyro-esque..

The details are so wonderfully grim, and intriguing.. like MC Escher got into a barfight with Wes Craven..

Got quite a bit done today.


So I will “calm down” now... sealing up the frame-inside-a-micro-climate AS NEEDED throughout the winter.

I am documenting the differential temperature between Actual:MicroC:Coldframe from sundown until I fall asleep.

It’s all done with old, recycled material.. with “non-permanence” in mind.. mostly built through tension, leverage, and gravity,,

The procedures learned from My time constructing mud huts/shelters in the wilderness ends up being constantly applicable.
