Learning much in my past two winters spent containerized tree/shrub gardening in, not only Zone 5a, but in the wildly chaotic transition months of Wisconsin seasonal change; I’ve decided to document THIS year’s HOPEFULLY “most successful yet” overwintering techniques and apparatuses I shall employ this time.

Please feel free to share yours, ESPECIALLY if you are cold like me.. or colder! Brrrrr!!

Nice project, I'm planning on building a shelter of sorts for my balcony trees.
Also, the former utility employee inside of me is urging me to mention you shouldn't block the meters 😂:

I know, not my beeswax. 🤣
Haha! I hadn’t even considered that!

the utility worker can burrow my binoculars. 🤣🤣

Located here in Chicago and placed all my trees on the ground today.

Planning to set up the cold protection areas this week and prepare for the deep cold

The BROAD details remind me of the platforms for the earliest, mass-marketed 3d console video games... like spyro-esque..

The details are so wonderfully grim, and intriguing.. like MC Escher got into a barfight with Wes Craven..

Jim Henson was there... he didn’t step in, though... but he was there.

;)

I LOVE that concept!

Is it yours?

Are you familiar with David Firth?

Or Ed Templeton?
LOL, No I actually was going to photoshop something peeking out of your pit and stumbled upon this pic at random, I had to post it because of the similarities and the door to the pit.
I will now look up David Firth?

I am documenting the differential temperature between Actual:MicroC:Coldframe from sundown until I fall asleep.
🤓

I’d live there.
what an interesting space!
Nice.
Haha! Thank you!!

It’s all done with old, recycled material.. with “non-permanence” in mind.. mostly built through tension, leverage, and gravity,,

The procedures learned from My time constructing mud huts/shelters in the wilderness ends up being constantly applicable.

🤣🤣

They need you on the living in the wild tv shows. You’d be a hit on the show Life Below Zero.
It’s quite an interesting structure you’ve built.
