Well guys its been a crazy last couple months. I ended a 5 year relationship with my gf, and moved back home to Vancouver last week. Went and had me interview in seattle with clipper seafoods yesterday and crushed it, they had me take a piss test and are running my background check as I write this. They're moving me up to seattle to overhaul the ships on the weekend of the 19th, i'll be reoutfitting the ships until the end of may and then i'll be sailing up to dutch harbor to really start working first week of June. All my trees are safe and sound tucked away at the flower farm until I have time to work them again. Its finally happening guys. 15years from now i'll have my property and greenhouses in the cascades and then the real bonsai work begins.

A Narwhal tooth!

And one of those Dutch Pines Cypress got!

When you think about doing something stupid, don't hesitate!
I'll follow the blog!;)

not dutcheiland, dutch harbor Alaska.

Fucking Dutch! Shit gets confusing now. Did you know we got a little village called 'Amerika' over here? And you guys got a bunch of Dutch stuff over there? Even a city called 'Nederland'! Which is Dutch for 'Netherlands', and in Japan they got an entire island devoted to Dutch culture. Betcha don't see bonsai over there!
What's Dutcheiland?

Wishing you well on this new venture...ending a long term relationship...wow...that had to be difficult. But the sun is over on the horizon and you be sailing toward it.

Sounds as if your trees are in good hands for horticultural tending. So a relief on your end...

It's been a crazy last couple months. Working 7 12's. Making in a week what I made in a month at the nursery. Absolutely freaking love the job!

We fish for Pacific cod mostly. Occasionally we'll go for black cod and turbot.

I'm taking the month of December off so that'll be the soonest I get to see my trees again. I miss them dearly. I've been trying to figure out a way to keep something green alive on a boat in the middle of the Bering sea while working 16hr days and I just don't think it'll be possible. Sad day.

All's well in Blake land. Hope everyone had a wonderful spring and all ur trees woke up. Until next time....

Happy growing,
Blake

That's great Blake. It sounds a lot like fun to me.
Thanks for posting and letting us know you're doing O.K.
It's amazing. I'm being trained to be a chief engineer. I'll be assistant chief in 2 years or less, that's when I hit 6figs too. So bad ass working on a boat. Seriously the most complicated piece of machinery I've ever seen. Me and all my co-workers are the oldest brothers of our respective families so that makes for an interesting leadership dynamic, but at the same time we're all super tight. It's been many a years since I've had the feeling of being home.... It's nice to find home...
Plan is to put a down payment on 100acres in 3 years and that. Should be totally achievable, I'm excited.

How's your spring coming along?
