Peking cotoneaster?

Today I Noticed this one has started to Leaf out. It’s been wintered in my unheated greenhouse and is the first to break bud. I Imagine I will have to keep it in the heated cold frame now until temps raise. I plan on chopping down, but am thinking I’ll wait till after first flush.

The 2 buds visible in the void died off, so I decided to try and layer the top off.

I it works, hopefully I’ll get some new buds below the layer. The top will be a nice start as well.

Well, layer was a fail. So I chopped it off a few weeks ago.
Getting some nice new growth to create a new top. That trunk is pretty dang straight, but I’m over it. I’ll just let it build character.

Starting up again. Like y’all told me, I should have chopped lower from the begging.

Long round about way, but perhaps getting some movement into this ugly duckling

Coming along with a big flush of growth this spring.

Still building the structure of this tree, but I’m getting closer to the next stage.

Roots will need to be addressed next spring!

Just starting to leaf out. Did a minor prune. And chopped the very straight low branch I didn’t like. Got a little sicker there- I’m not sure if I want to remove it now or later.?
