Pinus Silvestris - did I do wrong or good decision?

Hey! I love to hear your opinion on my decision with this Pinus Silvestris. I wanted it to gain more trunk thickness so I decided this spring not to shorten candles. Now I am thinkink if it was good or bad decision, because I could lost my branches development. I could live with some lost of development for gaining bigger trunk and than start over.. But.. What do you suggest? If it was mistake and I should just leave one or two sacrifice candles for develop future sacrifice branches is it still possible to shorten candles or I missed my opportunity to do it sooner?

BEst to just leave an individual sacrifice branch here and there [I suggest one of the candles quite far on the inside of a branch of at the top of the trunk] extend, and prune the rest short.

Good news.. If you now prune back, you get loads of backbudding.

I regularly prune all emerging candles back to only a few needles. And, as @leatherback said, I often select a sacrifice branch, if there is one available, to continue growth uncut. Sometimes that sacrifice branch is growing from the top and sometimes very low.

I let my scots pines run free and reduce this years shoots to 4-8 needle pairs when the needles have hardened off. That's how I get budding all over the place and dense ramification.
If this was my pine, I'd give it another two or three weeks before I would go in with a scissor.

Just make sure to feed it well so it has lots of energy to produce those back buds

Yes, it is feeded really well and you could see the results on the images. Very strong growth this year .

I am still thinking about it and it is good to have few options. Maybe in the future I will remove the lowest branche or jin it and make two trunk. I will see. I growned this pine from seed so it is nice to see it getting into some shape
